Mitchell Herrmann is an American artist working with sound and moving image, currently located in the UK courtesy of the Marshall Scholarship. His work explores contemporary experiences of spatiality, particularly in relation to the history of globalization. As an undergraduate, Herrmann studied film and sound art at Oberlin College and Conservatory. His creative projects have received a number of awards, including the SEAMUS Allen Strange Composition Award, the Klang International Competition, and the Franz Liszt Scholarship for Composition. Herrmann has completed residencies at the Hochschule für Musik in Weimar, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and the Banff Centre in Alberta. His scholarly work on continental philosophy and French experimental music has been published in the Cambridge University journal Organised Sound.
